Let’s face it, the internet has become a part of our daily lifestyle. Whether using it to email with loved ones, watching videos or paying bills, we now spend a lot of our day to day life online. That’s why it stinks if the internet connection is too slow. Here are 5 easy ways to improve your internet connection.

  1. Upgrade the Connection: While many of us have already made the switch to high speed internet via Cable or DSL, some of us are still on dial up internet connections. If you’re a dialup user, see what options are available in your area to get a faster connection.
  2. Disable JavaScript and Popups: While a lot of web sites use javascript, most of the time it’s not necessary. Try disabling javascript for a day and see if that speeds up your internet connection.
  3. Run a Registry Scan: Often slow computers has nothing to do with the internet and everything to do with your computer. Download a registry cleaner and run a scan - you’d be surprised at the results one of these tools can have on your computer.
  4. Run a Line Check: Are you getting what you paid for? Run both an internet speed test, available on many internet sites, and then call your internet company to check the quality of the physical phone or cable line. Often the internet is slow as a result of signal degradation and poor hardware, which needs to be fixed by your internet provider.
  5. Leave Heavy Downloads for Nighttime: If you’re a heavy downloader, see about leaving downloads for when you’re asleep, that way you can enjoy your internet connection and still get the downloads you’re looking for.
